As the proprietor of Audio Specialty Company, I provide repair and modification services for audio electronics components.
My most well known modifications are for the Advent 300 receiver, but I can do similar work for most other brands of equipment
that are constructed largely of discrete components rather than integrated circuits. Services are provided for both solid
state and vacuum tube equipment. My shop is one of the few remaining places where your vintage tuner can be repaired, aligned,
and tested on modern equipment. I also have a good deal of experience with McIntosh gear, both vintage and modern.
With a
full bench of test gear including Sencore SC-3100 Circuit and Waveform Analyzer, PA-81 Power Amplifier Analyzer, SG-80 AM-FM
Stereo Analyzer, and LC-102 Capacitor/Inductor Analyzer, Tektronix AA-501A Distortion Test Set, as well as a Vu-Data In-circuit
Component Tester, various Fluke meters, signal generators, and a 1/24 octave spectrum analyzer, I can trouble shoot and measure/optimize
the performance of just about any tuner, preamp, or power amplifier.
I really enjoy bringing out the best in a given piece of audio gear, substantiated with objective measurements as well
as subjective listening. It's also very satisfying to "bring back" a vintage unit with careful restoration. Occastionally
I have a few such pieces for sale which I often list on Audiogon or EBay. I invite you to contact me regarding your
needs or interests at owner@audiospecialtyco.com. David Plummer long-time member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
